Dwi’n gweithio o gartre heddi, dyma sgwrs ges i gyda Jay o Green Deal
just phoned me at home here’s a transcript of the conversation.

Dai : Bore da.

Jay ( Green Deal) : Hi you’ve come through to Jay at Green Deal, how can I help?

DL: Oh hi I’m pretty sure you’re a government initiative and I live in Wales so if it’s possible could I speak to a Welsh speaker please?

Jay ( Green Deal) : You what? Why would you want to do that?…You seem to be managing pretty well in English. It’s a national call centre, we don’t have anyone here who speaks Welsh.

DL: Well you’ve phoned my home, I’m working from home today, 90% of my work is in Welsh, and if the government wants me to take an interest in their scheme I think they should be able to speak to me in Welsh about it.

Jay ( Green Deal) : We’re in Middlesborough. [laughs] Why do you want to speak Welsh? You can speak English, can’t you?!

DL: I live in Wales, where the Welsh Government have made a commitment to treat the Welsh language equally, and so from my point of view anything that’s supported by public money should have a Welsh language option so that it has equal status.

Jay ( Green Deal) : You’re making this up..why would you want to do something like that?

Dai: I was brought up in Wales, educated through Welsh, and now I choose to work through Welsh. You’ve phoned me…could I have your full name please? And a staff number if you have one?

Jay ( Green Deal) : Why would you want that? It’s Jay.

DL: How else would I be able to make a complaint about you without that information? Could you put me through to your supervisor please?

Jay ( Green Deal) : (chuckles) I am the supervisor here today.

DL: Right, well you’d better take the complaint then.

Jay ( Green Deal) : You’re a krank. Why don’t you just… [Jay puts the phone down]
